This Saturday, like every Saturday from August till May, I assist three orchestras, Beginner 1, Beginner 2, and Intermediate 2. I also have a chamber music group and a violin lesson. I normally get up at 6:00am so that I can make lunch, take a shower(to wake me up) and help do other random stuff to get us out the door at 7:30. When I get to orchestra at 8:30, I go to the main office to get the stands, the sticker bag, and the music boxes for the Beginners and Intermediate 2. Once I have all the stuff I bring it to Beginners room so I can set up the room. To set up the room, I have to push the piano back in it's right place, set my 18 stands flode up stands, count chairs and stands, stack up chairs, and make sure the room is nice and neat and ready for the groups. Once I have the room all set up, I normally go ether wait for my teacher to get there, or go wait outside the room for my chamber group to start. At 9:30 my chamber group starts and we play until 10:20. When I get done with this group, I carry all my stuff over to the Beginner's classroom. When I get to the Beginners room, my teacher normally talks to Jessica (the other assistant) and me about what we really need to work on for that practice. At 10:45 we let in 18 students, all violins, ages between 5 -10 years. We practice with them until 11:30, when we let in the other group in. This group has 9 students ages from 3-8 years. Yes, we do have kids who are 3 years old playing violin....they are the cutest thing ever!!:) Once this group is done at 12:15, we put up the stands. I normally talk with my teacher about what I need to send out in emails this week to both beginner groups. At 12:30 we head over to the Hall for Intermediate 2's practice, this group has 65 students, violins, violsa, cellos, Bass, and piano. This practices goes until 1:45, then I help pick up name tags, make sure the music is sorted and the room is nice and clean. At 2:00, I am finally able to eat something. Normally I sit and talk to Jessica until my teacher leave for the classroom where she teaches. Then I eat lunch with my teacher, normally talk more about how the groups did and what we need to work on for the next week.. At 2:30 I start my violin lesson. At 4:00 I am done with my lesson and everything else and am on my way home after playing five hours!:)
That is what I do every Saturday, unless I have something come up...like next Saturday I will only be at orchestra until 12:15 cause I am going to the Barn Dance!!:)
